Illinois State University’s Board of Trustees today approved a capital project to make improvements to Hovey Hall at a cost of $5.5 million.
The project will include the remodel of the first floor of Hovey Hall, repair of exterior columns and repair of the exterior building envelope. The remodel will create a welcoming entrance on the east side of the building and will accommodate the relocation of the Financial Aid Office.
Locating Financial Aid from Fell Hall to Hovey Hall will allow for closer proximity to the Admissions Office, which is located on the second floor of Hovey Hall, making it easier for students and families to work with both offices when they are on campus. A small entry vestibule will be constructed and an upgrade of the front lobby area will occur. Improvements to the mechanical and electrical systems will also be addressed as well as pipe leaks from the water system.
Pre-cast elements of the columns on the east entrance to Hovey Hall will be removed and replaced with lightweight materials and brick features. Repairs will be made to the pre-cast elements of the building along with replacement of all window gaskets.
