WGLT staff took home six Associated Press awards, including best news writer for Judith Valente, best sports report by Charlie Schlenker and best series or documentary for Valente, Jon Norton and Willis Kern for “Police and Race in the Twin Cities”.
Jeanne Howard, SWK professor emeritus, and Susan Smith, former SWK, received the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Application of Adoption Research from the Rudd Adoption Research Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Performances
Steve Parsons, MUS, performed with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra in February. He also served as a National Association of Schools of Music accreditation visitor to Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.
Adriana Ransom and Geoff Duce, MUS, performed at the Peoria Symphony Guild’s Musical Mondays series on Feb. 9. Ransom also performed at the Trinity Lutheran Candlelight Concert.

Mark Olson, SWK, presented Ethical Challenges in Addressing Military Content in Social Work Education at the 2015 Baccalaureate Program Directors Annual Conference.
Michael Dicker, MUS, presented a program titled “Busy Bassoon” as part of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra’s Musical Discoveries Series. Assisted by bassoon students Veronica Dapper and Matt Jewell, the presentation was taped before an audience of children and parents in the studios of WTVP-TV in Peoria.
Amy Roser, University College, presented Helping Students Succeed Through Summer Session at the North Central Conference on Summer Sessions in Chicago.
