Brian Simpson, owner of Babbitt’s Books in uptown Normal, will speak about the changing nature of readers at the next University Club (U-Club) on Friday, April 24, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Faculty/Staff Commons of the Bone Student Center. His talk, “The Generational Shift in Book Consumption (as told by a casualty thereof),” will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Babbitt’s Books has been an institution in Uptown Normal for more than 25 years. The bookstore will be closing this June. Changes in information technology in relation to book usage is a national trend and Simpson will discuss his story as a reflection of these pervasive changes in society.
All faculty, staff, annuitants, and their guests are welcome to U-Club. Additional information about U-Club events and activities can be found at the U-Club website.
Continuing program support is provided by the Office of the Provost.
