You will critically examine how to implement the five design stages of Developmentally Responsive Pedagogy (DRP) in order to structure more challenging, empowering, and equitable classroom experiences while balancing university expectations and programmatic standards with students’ interests. Get a complete tour of the Illinois State learning system and its popular tools. Gain valuable ideas about ways to enhance your students’ learning experience. You will leave this workshop with the basic skills to add learning materials, activities, and assessments to your individualized ReggieNet course site.
Photoshop CS6: Part 1
Tuesday, July 14 • 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Get an overview of the digital image editing program, including a walkthrough of basic tools and concepts. Learn to work with raster graphics, using the Toolbox and other commands, as well as the various ways you can save your work for a website or for printing. This class finishes with a lesson on how to professionally color correct an image.
Understanding Intellectual Property
Tuesday, July 14 • 1–4 p.m.
Many faculty only associate patentable material with intellectual property (IP). However, there are many different forms of IP. This session will categorize the many types of intellectual property and explain the most suitable form of protection for each. You will also learn reporting requirements for IP developed with federal funds under the Bayh-Dole Act. You will also learn about the disclosure, marketing, and licensing process when transferring technologies you’ve developed to industry. Bring your laptop and existing texts that describes the work. This workshop is facilitated by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and is not eligible for a stipend.
ReggieNet Assessments
Wednesday, July 15 • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This workshop will cover the assessment tools available in ReggieNet, including Tests & Quizzes, Assignments, and File Drop. Explore the options available for different types of assessment, the limitations of the assessment tools, and instructional strategies for promoting academic integrity. Prerequisite: Introduction to ReggieNet.
Building Community
Thursday, July 16 • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Students better communicate and are more motivated in learning environments where they feel welcomed and challenged. This workshop shows you how to structure learning environments so you can develop rapport, help students learn from each other, and create class meetings where students are engaged.
ReggieNet: Migrating Content from Modules to Lesson Builder
Thursday, July 16 • 10–11 a.m.
This workshop will teach you the basics of the Lesson Builder tool in ReggieNet, which will replace the Modules tool for classes starting in spring 2016. Learn how to copy content from the Modules tool over to the Lesson Builder tool. Discover how to design lessons that require students to complete prerequisites before they can proceed to the next stage. It is easy to integrate multimedia content with this tool.
