Get energized for the new semester at the Fall Kickoff from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Friday, August 21.
This fall, the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology would like to help you be a reflective practitioner. Faculty members who have completed Summer Institute courses will discuss what they took away and put into practice in their own teaching.
Jeff Rients of the Department of English, who completed the Future Faculty workshop series, will talk about how he learned about using learning outcomes to create an assessment blueprint. Angie McCombs from University College, who completed the Developmental Math redesign cohort, will discuss how Developmental Math uses real-life situations to help students understand how they will use algebra in everyday life without even realizing it, and develop their students confidence. Other micro-presentations will focus on the relationship between learning outcomes and the time spent on instructional activity.
By reflecting on what they have learned throughout the summer, these faculty members are able to share what they believe is something that could potentially be useful in other classes.
Come to CTLT on Friday, August 21, any time between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for pizza, good conversation, and to hear about different strategies that your colleagues are now using in their classrooms. No registration is required.
If you need a special accommodation to fully participate in an event, please call the CTLT main desk at (309) 438-2542.
