Purdue University Professor of Physics David Nolte will give a talk titled “Doppler Imaging of Life: Everything Moves” at 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, in Moulton Hall, room 214, as part of the Fall 2015 Physics Colloquium Series.
Nolte is currently directing the Adaptive Optics and Biophotonics group, which studies a broad spectrum of problems that range from Biological Compact Disks (BioCDs) that rely on diffraction of lasers from spinning discs supporting antibodies, to real-time video flythroughs of rat bone-cancer tumors using holographic imaging, and microfabrication of microfluidic systems using two-photon polymerization.
Nolte received his Ph.D. in physics at the University of California, Berkeley in 1988. Since 2004, he has been a technical founder of Quadraspec, Inc. of West Lafayette, Indiana, a company of 50 employees that is commercializing the immuno-diagnostic potential of the BioCD, and the author of the trade non-fiction book Mind at Light Speed on the physics and future of photonic technology.
The event is free and open to the public. For accommodation requests or more information on the colloquium series, contact the Department of Physics at 438-8756 or email Kerry Stewart at krstewa@ilstu.edu.
