With the increasing demand for short term study abroad programs, the Languages, Literatures and Cultures department has launched two new programs for the 2016 calendar year, in addition to the already existing Avila summer program.
The first program is geared to offer a three-credit Spanish Conversation course over spring break to Panama. This 10-day program will award Spanish majors and minors credit for SPA 214. Professor Marinelly Castillo-Zuniga will be accompanying the students to Quality Leadership University in Panama City for a Latin American Spanish immersion opportunity.
The second offering is a one-month summer program to Bilbao, Spain, through Universidad de Deusto. This Spanish Language and Culture Program is open to anyone interested in Spanish language. This includes introductory Spanish language as well as many intermediate courses focusing on many topics pertaining to Spanish culture.
Universidad de Salamanca-Avila Program has gained popularity over the years, and will be offered again in Summer 2016. This program is intended to allow Spanish students the opportunity to complete their minor abroad by earning credit for SPA 214 and SPA 215 during this one month program to Avila, Spain. Assistant Professor Patxi Ibarlucea Lascurain will be leading the 2016 cohort.
