Gina Hunter from Illinois State’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology served as a consultant for a new permanent exhibit, “Making a Home,” at the McLean County Museum of History.
Hunter delivered keynote remarks as part of the opening day ribbon-cutting ceremony and festivities on Monday, January 18. The new exhibit is the museum’s first new permanent exhibit in 24 years.
“I think the new exhibit is beautiful, and I appreciate the new, interactive elements,” said Claire Lamonica, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Technology, who attended the opening. “The stories of individual families who came to McLean County from all different parts of the world offer a great way to gain an appreciation for our history.”
The McLean County Museum of History is located at 200 North Main Street, Bloomington, and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays. Persons wishing to obtain additional information may call (309) 827-0428 or visit the museum’s website.
