Tuyen Tonnu, associate professor in Illinois State University’s School of Music, will present a concert of piano works at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for faculty/staff, and $6 for students and seniors. The concert is part of the School of Music’s Charles W. Bolen Faculty Recital Series.
Tonnu’s concert program will include a Beethoven sonata; Tenebrae by English composer and pianist John McCabe, written in 1993 to commemorate three fellow musicians and friends who died in that year; and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, an homage to the composer’s lost friend Russian artist and architect Viktor Hartmann.
