Each month this spring and summer, an Illinois State instructor will get a little extra reward for her or his professional self-improvement.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the formation of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology. While several departments provided professional, pedagogical, and technology support for instructors on campus before 2006, it wasn’t until the formation of CTLT that all of that became focused under one vision. Since then, CTLT has provided faculty, staff, and graduate teaching assistants at Illinois State with tens of thousands of professional development hours.
As part of celebrations this anniversary year, CTLT will give away a free book to the faculty or staff member who engages in the most professional development each month, from now until the end of Summer Institute in mid-August. It a small way to recognize the commitment by so many to the University’s primary mission: student learning and achievement.
The first winner is Shelly Clevenger from the Department of Criminal Justice Sciences. She was picked at random from those tied as the top hours-earner in January.
CTLT has plenty of professional development opportunities ahead this spring, including seminars on Assessment Makeover, Spring Institute, and Technology Short Courses.
