Sticking around Illinois State University this summer but not enrolled in classes? Student Health Services (SHS) can continue to provide the medical care you need.
Students can continue to use SHS if they took classes during the spring 2016 semester, have registered or plan to register for the fall 2016 semester, and are not taking summer classes. Such students may use SHS on a fee-for-service basis by paying for each individual service, much like an outpatient medical facility. Students that are taking one or more credit hours during the summer may continue to use Student Health Services at the same cost as they would during the fall or spring terms.
Student Health Services’ fee-for-service costs will remain lower than the typical, comparable medical facility. Service charges depend on the specific care provided. Similar to payment during the fall and spring semesters, the fee may be paid for at the time of service or billed to their student account.
Student Health Services does not submit charges to insurance companies. Students may request a bill suitable for filing with primary insurance or Student Health Insurance. If you do not have Student Health Insurance, be sure to contact your insurance provider to determine if charges from Student Health Services will be covered. SHS is not in most insurance networks.
Students may also continue to use the pharmacy for prescription or over-the-counter medication or toiletry items.
Please visit SHS’s Patient Support Services for more information or give us a call at (309) 438-2778. We will post our summer hours once spring semester is over.
