Illinois State University’s Down Syndrome Special Interest Group (SIG) will host a fashion show Sunday, April 24, to raise money for the Central Illinois Down Syndrome Organization (CIDSO).
The Down Syndrome SIG, as part of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), paired up with CIDSO to host the fashion show themed “Choose to Shine.”
The SIG participated in fundraising throughout the semester to host the show. Many local businesses are donating items for prizes as well as clothing for the models to wear. All money raised at the show will be donated to CIDSO.
The SIG got the idea for the fashion show after learning about an annual prom hosted by the Albert Pujols Foundation for people with Down syndrome. The fashion show will feature males and females with Down syndrome as models.
The show begins at 1 p.m. April 24 in the Bone Student Center. Tickets are $13.
