Turn in your final grades, then stop by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT) for refreshment and relaxation. Faculty and staff are invited to come celebrate the end of the spring semester and kickoff CTLT’s 10th anniversary Summer Institute. There will be snacks, pizza, ice cream, and a lot of great conversation with colleagues from across campus. We’ll also give you a few sneak peeks at Summer Institute workshops and help you get signed up for a summer’s worth of professional growth!
Come for just a few minutes or all day. No registration is necessary.

Koru Mindfulness
Jim Almeda and Nikki Brauer, Health Promotion and Wellness
Mindfulness and meditation are practices that have been studied and proven in research to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, healthy eating behaviors and academic performance, and contribute to a greater sense of well-being and happiness. Learn about the art and science of mindfulness, what it is and how it works, and practice some mindfulness meditation techniques that are used in the Koru Mindfulness class that Health Promotion and Wellness staff facilitate for students and for faculty/staff.

Chewing on Life’s Big Questions

Engaging students in conversations about values. Chewing on Life’s Big Questions is an interactive classroom session designed by Health Promotion and Wellness. This session will preview Chewing on Life’s Big Questions workshop (June 22, 9 a.m. to noon) and will include Illinois State University data, an engaging video from the Soul Pancake website, and an interactive discussion that encourages participants to explore their values and purpose in life. The presentation also promotes group cohesion through discussion and activities.

How Learning Works
Claire Lamonica, CTLT
Explore the role motivation plays in student learning and participate in a hands-on activity to identify the reasons some students may not be as motivated as we would like. This session is a preview of CTLT Director Claire Lamonica’s upcoming workshop, How Learning Works (July 14, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., lunch provided).
