Sexual assault on college campuses is a serious issue across the nation. To help make sure all Illinois State University students have a foundational knowledge of sexual assault related issues and in response to federal requirements, all are required to complete Consent and Respect online training. Consent and Respect is Illinois State’s Title IX training and is an online course designed to enhance awareness of sexual violence, its impact on college students, and the importance of consent and respect in sexual situations. This course provides strategies to prevent sexual violence as well as critical information about what to do if you or someone you know has experienced unwanted sexual contact. Consent and Respect also ensures all students have the same basic foundation of knowledge about relevant terms, laws, and the Student Code of Conduct.
Illinois State University has a long tradition of being committed to creating an inclusive environment where students feel safe and the well-being of the entire campus community is supported at all levels. It is important that all students and employees are aware of the issues surrounding sexual victimization, healthy relationships, violence prevention, and safe strategies. Consent and Respect contributes to making Illinois State an even more caring community where individuals can make the most of where they live, learn, work, and play. Consent and Respect will need to be completed in the fall every year that a student is enrolled in classes at the University. The online course will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Students will receive an email with information about how to complete the course in their Illinois State email from 3rd Millennium Classrooms. Consent and Respect is completed by first-year students as part of the required Alcohol Wise training.
