The 24 graduates of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program in the Mennonite College of Nursing (MCN) at Illinois State University achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the national family nurse practitioner certification examination for 2016.
Graduates have the option to complete the certification examination through either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). The national pass rate for these exams is 74 percent.
“I would like to recognize Professor Denise Wilson, who is the FNP Sequence Leader for this incredible pass rate” said Judy Neubrander, dean of Mennonite College of Nursing. “She, as well as the rest of the graduate program faculty, are dedicated to our mission of preparing outstanding nurses who will lead to improve health outcomes locally and globally.”
MCN has a long history of above average pass rates for the FNP certification exam. Over the 20 years of graduates completing the certification examination, the cumulative pass rate is over 98 percent on the first attempt. “The success of our graduates on the national certification examination speaks highly of the quality of our students and our program,” said Wilson. “This quality is further substantiated by feedback from employers and consumers on the quality of care provided by our graduates.”
