Illinois State University President Larry Dietz announced the finalists for the open position of director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access at Illinois State University. Open forums for the candidates will be September 26, 28, and 29. The campus community is invited to attend the forums.
Anthony Walesby – 1 p.m. September 26

Walesby is currently the associate vice provost for academic and faculty affairs at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. In that role, he also serves as senior director for the Office of Institutional Equity. Before arriving at Michigan, Walesby was an assistant provost and associate director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also served eight years as a federal investigator with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Graduating from Illinois State with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history, Walesby earned a master’s in education from the University of Illinois.
Roberto Sanabria – 1 p.m. September 28

Sanabria is currently the director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access at Northwestern University in Evanston. Prior to that position, he served as the director of the Office of University Outreach and Equal Employment at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, and as a special assistant to the director and chief of Latino services for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in Chicago. Sanabria earned an Ed.D. in adult education from National-Louis University in Chicago.
Arthur Sutton – 1 p.m. September 29

Sutton is the current deputy director of diversity and outreach, and an equal employment officer with the Illinois Board of Higher Education. During his time there, he served as an administrator for the Diversifying Faculty in Illinois Program. Sutton earned an Ed.D. in educational leadership and administration from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in educational administration and foundations from Illinois State.
