Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (SCCR) in the Dean of Students Office is looking for staff to serve as conduct consultants for the 2016-2017 academic year. Conduct consultants assists students through the conduct process.
The Code of Student Conduct went through a major overhaul in 2014 and was completely rewritten and approved by both the Student Government Association and Academic Senate in April 2015. The new Code took effect July 1, 2015. In the new Code SCCR offers a conduct consultant service to students.
Conduct consultants are faculty, staff, and student volunteers who aid students in understanding their due process rights, as well as assist students in their preparation for case management conferences and formal hearings. Conduct consultants may attend hearings with students but are not allowed to represent a student. Conduct consultants will receive basic training in the student conduct process from SCCR professional staff.
Two hours of training is required. Training sessions are available from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, or from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, November 11. These sessions will cover the Code, a volunteer’s role in the process, and answer any questions.
Those interested should contact Akilah Jones in Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution at aajone2@ilstu.edu, or in person in room 120 of the Student Services Building for an application. The deadline for applications is Friday, October 28.
