Associate Professor in the School of Teaching and Learning May Jadallah and Project Manager Joel Studebaker will present “Above and Beyond STEM” at the November 4 meeting of the University Club (U-Club) in the Founders’ Suite of the Bone Student Center.
All faculty, staff, annuitants, and guests are welcome to attend. The meeting runs from 3:30-5:30 p.m., with the talk beginning at 4:30 p.m. (Please note the room change due to use of the Faculty Staff Commons for voter registration.)
As STEM has grown into a phenomenon, Jadallah and Studebaker have spent years researching and developing ATLAS, a curriculum for elementary students that fosters confidence with computers, independence, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving skills while tying in to other learning standards like Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards.
They will discuss their philosophy of holistic learning, how that philosophy shaped the ATLAS curriculum, and how they believe schools, teacher educators, and community members can contribute to an educational culture that will prepare students to be vigorous members of tomorrow’s technologically advanced society.
Additional information about University Club events and activities can be found on the website. Continued program support is provided by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the President.
