The theme of 2016 International Open Access Week 2016 is “Open in Action,” and that’s what Milner Library’s events this year are all about.
On Monday, October 24, at 2 p.m., join John Baur, associate vice president for Research and Graduate Studies, and Sarah Dick, copyright officer for Copyright and Research, to find out the benefits of depositing work in ISU ReD, Illinois State’s institutional repository for faculty. Baur will share how putting his research into ISU ReD has helped him collaborate and share his work more widely. Dick will talk about what copyright means within the setting of open access, things to consider when negotiating a contract with a publisher, and what researchers can do if they decide they would like to put previously published work into ISU ReD.
On Thursday, October 27, also at 2 p.m., members of the IR Core team from Milner Library will run a hands-on workshop for anyone who wants help using the institutional repository. The workshop will cover topics ranging from the basics of setting up an account and depositing a work, to how to use the IR for advanced functions like organizing a conference to starting a journal.
Both events will be held in 213C Milner Library, the classroom on the main floor. Join us and be Open in Action!
