The College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) at Illinois State University is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. This series, CAST 50×50, is designed to highlight 50 faculty, staff, students, alumni, and organizations within CAST that make the college special. These notable people will tell you that every day in CAST is a great day to be a Redbird!
Today #CAST50 is excited to feature, Corrine Norris, a senior in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences and student intern in the Lois Jett Historic Costume Collection.
What is your position within CAST?
I am a senior fashion merchandising major in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences!
Growing up, what did you want to be? Is what you’re doing now in any way related to what you said as a child?
The first thing I decided I wanted to be when I was a child was an actress, but then I discovered that I don’t really like performing…. I found a new career path to love when I saw Rachel Green in Friends enter the world of fashion. Since then I knew that I wanted to do something with clothing, and now here I am working towards becoming a buyer in the fashion industry!
Describe yourself in 5 words.
Okay um…chic, nerdy, witty, motivated, honest!
If you had a one way ticket anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
For sure London. I would want to visit every Harry Potter-related thing London has.
What do you enjoy most about your job and major?
The best part about working in the Lois Jett Historic Costume Collection is to be able to work with the historical garments we have. I love seeing how fashion has evolved throughout the years.
