Ross Kennedy, HIS, was named an Organization of American Historians’ Distinguished Lecturer for 2017-2020. He also presented the keynote lecture, “Strategic Calculations in Woodrow Wilson’s Neutrality Policy, 1914-1917,” at the Annual Conference of the German Association of American Studies in Heidelberg, Germany.
Ani Yazedjian, FCS, received the 2017 Emerging Administrators’ Award from the Board on Human Sciences of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.

Presentations
Ali Riaz, POL, delivered four presentations in Bangladesh based on his work on governance, media, and history of Bangladesh. Talks included delivering the lecture “Media and Democracy” at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Rajshahi. He also spoke at the conference “Governance and Development: The Asian Perspective” held by the Department of Public Administration of The University of Rajshahi. His plenary lecture was titled “Measuring Governance: What are we missing?” While in Bangladesh, Riaz also discussed the challenges of writing the political history of Bangladesh at the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS) at Rajshahi. Riaz capped his trip to Bangladesh with a keynote presentation at the seminar organized by the Center for Governance Studies at Dhaka titled “Governance: A Critical Examination.”
