Explore new destinations and come hiking with the Adventure Program at Campus Recreation. Your next opportunity will be offered at Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby. This Winter Waterfall Hike will be Sunday, February 26, from 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Hikers will explore canyons and a waterfall that are frozen from the winter season. Register by February 21 at the Student Fitness Center or online. The cost will be $15 for students/members and $20 for faculty/staff nonmembers. A pre-trip meeting will take place February 22 from 4–5 p.m. The cost includes transportation, instruction, and Yaktrax for walking purposes.
For a different perspective, join the Adventure Program for a Night Hike at Sugar Grove Nature Center. This trip will take place Thursday, March 9, from 6–9 p.m. The cost is $15 for students/members and $20 for faculty/staff nonmembers. Registration includes transportation, Yaktrax, and instruction. Register by March 5 at the Student Fitness Center or online. Hikers will have a chance to view stars, walk through prairies, and listen for the sound of animal calls.
“Hiking trips allow people to enjoy nature and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life,” said Rachel Iversen, assistant director of the Adventure programs.
