The Department of Psychology will present a talk titled “‘Marzolf and Joe’: Memories of the Late 1940s and Early 1950s at Illinois State Normal University,” with Joseph L. French ’49, M.S. ’50, Thursday, April 27, at 2 p.m. in 551 DeGarmo Hall.
Abstract
This talk explores the relationship between Distinguished Professor of Psychology Stanley Marzolf and French while the latter was a graduate student in psychology at Illinois State Normal University. As a graduate student, French worked under Marzolf’s supervision in the University Psychology Clinic for three years.
After French received his master’s degree, he was appointed to the psychology faculty from 1950–1955. His talk will provide a glimpse into the Department of Psychology (then Psychology and Education) and graduate education in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
