Facilities Management and Environmental Health and Safety staff members, along with Normal Fire Department personnel, will be testing fire pumps and building standpipes across the Illinois State University campus during the remainder of May and throughout the month of June.
In some locations, temporary lane or street closures will be necessary for the testing to take place.
The process of testing the pumps and standpipes may cause periodic discoloration of the water in some campus buildings. The discoloration is harmless and can be cleared by letting the water run for a short time.
