Sue Franzen, Milner Library’s nursing and health sciences librarian, was awarded an American Library Association’s Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) Top Twenty Article for 2016 for “Merging Information Literacy and Evidence-Based Practice in an Undergraduate Health Science Curriculum Map.”
Publications
Julie Webber, POL, is the author of a new book titled Beyond Columbine: School Violence and the Virtual.
Justin Vickers, MUS, is the co-editor of Benjamin Britten Studies: Essays on An Inexplicit Art. The book was launched at the Aldeburgh Festival of Music and the Arts in Aldeburgh, England. The festival was begun by the composer Benjamin Britten in 1948. Vickers is currently in residence researching a history of the Aldeburgh Festival from its founding through Britten’s death in 1976.
Kimberly Schneider, Eric Wesselmann, and Eros Dsouza, PSY, co-authored “Confronting Subtle Workplace Mistreatment: The Importance of Leaders as Allies,” for Frontiers in Psychology.
Dawn McBride, PSY, co-authored a chapter titled “Is Prospective Memory Unique? A Comparison of Prospective and Retrospective Memory” for Psychology of Learning and Motivation.
Jeffrey Wagman, PSY, co-authored an article for Experimental Psychology titled “Heads up! Dynamic Similitude for Perception with an Object Wielded by Head or Hand.”
Craig McLauchlan, CHE, co-authored “Does Anion-Cation Organization in Na+-containing X-ray Crystal Structures Relate to Solution Interactions in Inhomogeneous Nanoscale Environments: Sodium-Decavanadate in Solid State Materials, Minerals and Microemulsions” for Coordination Chemistry Reviews 2017. He also presented along with graduate students at the Sixth International Georgian Bay Conference on Bioinorganic Chemistry in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada. The title of the presentation was “Investigations into the Ideal Coordination Geometries of Vanadium-based Enzyme Inhibitors.”
Eros DeSouza and Eric Wesselmann, both PSY, published “Workplace Discrimination against Sexual Minorities: Subtle and not-so-subtle” in a special issue of the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences/Revue Canadienne des Sciences de l’Administration focusing on LGBTQ in the workplace.
Presentations
Sarah Dick and Sue Franzen, both of Milner, presented “Traversing the Terrain of 21st Century Publishing: A Practicum” at the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) Virtual Instruction Showcase.
William Bohn, LAN, was the keynote speaker at Penser les Avant-Gardes in Nice, France, where he presented the lecture “La Poetique du vol: l’aeropoesie futuriste” (The Poetics of Flight: Futurist Aeropoetry) at the Thinking about the Avant-Garde Movements conference.
