Illinois State University’s Milner Library will host Shakespearience at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, on the sixth floor of the library. The program will give viewers a rare glimpse into the world of legendary poet and playwright, William Shakespeare. In addition to interactive talks and hands-on demonstrations, the public will also get to view rare items, including books from Shakespeare’s time in Milner Library’s Special Collections. The event is free and open to the public.

Shakespearience, which helps to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, will feature three Shakespeare scholars, Assistant Professor Tara Lyons from Illinois State’s Department of English as well as DePaul University’s Professor Megan Heffernan, and Professor Adam Hooks from the University of Iowa. Renaissance music will be played by Bradley University’s Professor Michael Hull after the demonstrations.

Participants will be invited to experience what life may have been like for Shakespeare and his contemporaries in Renaissance England.
