The Illinois State University Alumni Association invites Redbirds to an exclusive program at the Mecum Chicago Collector Car Auction, hosted by Dave Magers ’77, MBA ’86, CEO of Mecum Auctions, pictured above.
What exactly is Mecum Auction Company? Mecum is ranked No. 1 in the world for number of collector cars offered and sold at auction. The company holds auctions all over the United States with 500 to 3,000 cars present, some owned by well-known athletes and celebrities. The events aren’t just for collectors (although this is the best to attend for those that are), but also for those wanting to witness a vast array of vehicular history on display. Mecum auctions are also featured on NBC Sports!
Join Illinois State for a private, invite-only reception with President Larry Dietz before previewing the cars available for auction. Guests will also meet College of Business Dean Ajay Samant, Mennonite College of Nursing Dean Judy Neubrander and College of Education Dean Perry Schoon. The evening will conclude on the floor of the auction block with remarks and Q&A from Dave Magers. This is an opportunity not available to the public.

Redbird Day at Mecum Chicago, October 6
Mecum Auctions and Illinois State have partnered on a special promotion for Redbirds attending the Mecum classic and collector car auction. Alumni and friends wearing ISU gear on Friday, October 6 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. will get a special discounted spectator ticket for $10! Children 12 and under will be free. Bidder registration will also be discounted for Redbirds to $100 at the auction, which includes admission for two guests for all three auction days.
