Pei Geng joins Illinois State University in the Department of Mathematics as an assistant professor. She received her Ph.D. in statistics from Michigan State University in 2017. She earned her M.S. in statistics from East China Normal University in 2012.
Her current research interests include statistical inference in measurement error models and generalized linear models using kernel smoothing techniques. She also works on topics in biostatistics, such as multilevel association detection.
Geng has been published in Statistics and Probability Letters and Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference and has presented her research at conferences nationwide. She received the NatSci Excellence-in-Teaching Citation from the College of Natural Science from Michigan State University in 2016, as well as being nominated for the All University Excellence-in-Teaching Citation. She has worked as a lab instructor, independent instructor, and research assistant at Michigan State University since 2012.
Geng enjoys teaching both basic and advanced statistics courses. She finds it challenging yet rewarding to be able to present concepts in a straightforward manner, while still being intuitive and inspiring. On sunny days, Geng likes to run and play tennis.
