Lindsey Thomas joins the School of Communication at Illinois State University as an assistant professor. She received her Ph.D. in 2015 from the University of Iowa. Her areas of expertise include parent-child relationships, foster narratives, and defining family relations.
Professor Thomas has received several top paper recognitions at the National Communication Association annual conference, including a top-four paper in the Family Communication division in 2017. She and colleagues also received the Graduate and Professional Student Government Research Grant in 2015 for their research in Support Gaps and Unintended Pregnancy. She was also a Visiting Assistant Professor at University of Puget Sound from 2015 to 2017.
Professor Thomas is a self-proclaimed cat lady with three cats: Marilyn, Widow, and Theo. She likes spending her free time reading, especially short stories and comics, and enjoys discovering new music. One of her favorite things to eat is cheese, and she also loves to bake. Professor Thomas enjoys traveling, both domestically and internationally, and even finds walking around local neighborhoods a good way to relax.
