A newly discovered security flaw named Krack may affect the integrity or privacy of Wi-Fi connections around the globe. The flaw is hackable, particularly on a home network. Attackers must be near a vulnerable Wi-Fi network to take advantage of the flaw. ISU’s Wi-Fi network is up to date, eliminating the risk while on the campus Wi-Fi.
What does this mean for you?
The Information Security Office is confident that Krack does not pose a threat to the ISU Wi-Fi network. However, when away from the ISU wireless network you should take additional precautions. This includes installing the latest software updates (Windows, iOS, etc.) when available. Update all devices connecting to a Wi-Fi network when available. Update smart phones, laptops, desktop computers, and personal access points or routers when available.
