The Illinois State University School of Theatre and Dance Crossroads Project welcomes acclaimed playwright Elizabeth Wong for an on-campus residency February 12–16 to workshop her newest play, Code of Conduct. A free staged reading of the play will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 16 in Westhoff Theatre, followed by a Q&A with the playwright. AsiaConnect will continue the event with a dinner in the playwright’s honor at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Center for the Performing Arts.
Wong’s weeklong visit includes master classes and the opportunity for students to collaborate with a playwright-in-residence as she develops her newest play. Commissioned by First Flight Entertainment, Code of Conduct is a full-length coming-of-age drama about a young enlisted American soldier, eager to serve his country and “be all you can be.” On his first deployment, Terry finds himself stationed at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, where his life will never be the same.
To attend the dinner hosted by AsiaConnect, please RSVP by February 9 to Archana Shekara. Please address checks ($5 for students and $10 for adults) to “AsiaConnect” and mail to Miranda Lin, 212 DeGarmo Hall, 5330 School of Teaching and Learning, College of Education, Illinois State University, Normal, IL 61790.
