February is Therapeutic Recreation Month! Come and enjoy a chance to gain new perspectives on recreation participation at Adaptapalooza, Wednesday, February 28th from 5:00-6:30 p.m. This event, planned and hosted by ISU Therapeutic Recreation students, is a fun way to advocate for adaptive and inclusive sports. The program is free and open to all students and members of the Student Fitness Center.
Therapeutic recreation is a process that utilizes recreation as a means to mental and physical health and well-being in individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions. Participants will have an opportunity to experience how therapeutic recreation addresses recreational challenges and limitations many people face by playing Beep Baseball, Wheelchair Basketball, Adaptive Climbing and more. No experience necessary!
“The Adaptapalooza event is really about Therapeutic Recreation awareness and giving participants a hands on experience into adaptive sports. As students, we understand what the field is about but this event gives us the opportunity to showcase that to our fellow ISU students and community members.” – Therapeutic Recreation Student Team
Campus Recreation takes pride in arranging events that bring awareness to illnesses and disabilities. Show your support of Therapeutic Recreation Month by attending Adaptapalooza at the Student Fitness center Wednesday, February 28, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
