Associate Professors Juliet Lynd and Beth Hatt will present a talk for University Club titled “Identifying Obstacles to Higher Education and Developing Resources on Campus for Undocumented Students” at 4:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, in the Founders Suite of the Bone Student Center.
Lynd is the acting director of Latin American and Latinx Studies from Illinois State’s Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, and Hatt is an associate professor from the University’s Department of Educational Administration and Foundations.
The speakers will address various issues that concern undocumented students and the obstacles they face. Attendees will get to learn more about Illinois State’s Committee to Assist Undocumented Student Achievement (CAUSA), formed by a group of ISU faculty and staff in 2016. The talk will also include topics like the challenges undocumented students face when applying to universities, the difficulty in obtaining funds for their education, and the uncertain fate of DACA.
All faculty, staff, annuitants, and guests are welcome to attend University Club, which runs from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Continued program support is provided by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the President. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
