Students from Dunlap High School won first place on both tests in the regional American Chemical Society High School Chemistry Contest on April 9.
The contest, held at Illinois State University, consisted of a test for first- and advanced-year chemistry students and drew nearly 260 high-schoolers from Peoria and Bloomington-Normal. Winners received a certificate and a monetary award. The winning school, Dunlap High School, will keep the traveling plaques for both until next year’s contest.

This is the 41st year for the Illinois Heartland Local Section of the American Chemical Society High School Chemistry Contest. The event was hosted by Illinois State’s Department of Chemistry, the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (CeMaST), and the Chemistry Club, with additional support from Illinois Heartland Section of the American Chemical Society.
