A marketing pioneer, an advocate for fairness in the marketplace, and an award-winning author are the newest inductees to the Division of Student Affairs’ Steve and Sandi Adams Legacy Hall of Fame at Illinois State University.
Celebrating alumni with a passion for making a difference and a commitment to excellence, the fifth annual Adams Legacy Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held April 13.
2018 Inductees
Craig Gilmore
A 1973 alumnus of Illinois State, Gilmore is a retired zone director of multicultural markets for State Farm Insurance Companies. He has been active on many boards and in non-profit organizations, including 100 Black Men of Chicago, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago, Chicago Council on Urban Affairs, National African American Insurance Association, Cook County State’s Attorney African-American Advisory Council, and the DuSable Museum of African American History Capital Campaign Planning Committee.

Rachel Spangler
A 2005 and 2007 alumna, Spangler is an award-winning author. Her first novel, Learning Curve, won the Golden Crown Literary Award for Debut Author. She also won a Goldie for subsequent novels Trails Merge and Perfect Pairing. She is a two-time Lambda Literary Award finalist and the Alice B. Reader Award winner for 2018. Her 12th novel, In Development, will be released in May of 2018.

Daniel Wagner
A 1989 and 1994 alumnus, Wagner is senior vice president of government relations for The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies. As a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Wagner has been a significant advocate for the Marketplace Fairness Act. He is a board member for the Civic Federation of Chicago and active in the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Manufacturers Association, Illinois Retail Merchants Association and the United States Chamber of Commerce.
