The College of Education is pleased to announce that Dana Kinley will serve as the new superintendent of the University Laboratory Schools and assistant dean of the College of Education, effective July 1.
Kinley brings valuable knowledge and experience to this position having served for six years as the assistant superintendent for the Jacksonville School District in downstate Illinois. She received her doctorate of education in school executive leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In addition to her roles as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal, Kinley has also served in the field at the state level in a variety of capacities for the Illinois State Board of Education.
“I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to serve the University Laboratory Schools and the College of Education at Illinois State,” Kinley said. “This environment is incredibly empowering because it partners the University’s nationally-recognized Lab Schools with its industry-leading educator preparation program. Student learning is the focus of these efforts, and I am looking forward to supporting this mission as we prepare the next generation of leaders.”
The University Laboratory Schools were established within a year of Illinois State (Normal) University’s opening in 1857. Together, Thomas Metcalf School and University High School enroll approximately 1,000 students from prekindergarten through 12th grade.
