In celebration of 2018 Constitution Day, Illinois State University’s American Democracy Project (ADP) will host a screening of The House We Live In at 2 p.m. Monday, September 17, on the sixth floor of Milner Library.
The documentary is part of the Race: The Power of an Illusion series from the Public Broadcasting System, and examines the racialized nature of laws, courts, customs, and housing.
Following the screening, Professor of History Emeritus Roger Biles will facilitate a discussion about the Fair Housing Act in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of its adoption.
Constitution Day and Citizenship Day commemorate the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, and recognize all who, by birth or by naturalization, have become citizens.
