Illinois State University’s Morgan Grunloh of Lexington has been named one of this year’s outstanding college students by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.
The Lincoln Academy’s Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Awards are presented for excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities to seniors from each of the state’s four-year, degree-granting colleges and universities, and one student from the community colleges in Illinois. The Academy recognized students during the annual Student Laureate Convocation in November.
A senior at Illinois State majoring in chemistry and minoring in Spanish, Grunloh plans to attend graduate school to become an anesthesiologist assistant. Selected to join a faculty member’s research team, Grunloh is committed to her work in the laboratory and plans to share her research at the American Chemical Society meeting in Boston. Earlier this year, Grunloh received one of the University’s most distinguished awards, the Bone Scholarship.
The epitome of a successful student athlete, Grunloh is head of the ISU Cheer Team and is a top contributor of the team’s community service projects. She also volunteers with Adult Day Services at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center. Along with her studies and community service, Grunloh serves as an assistant cheerleading coach and choreographer for Lexington High School.
