Illinois State University will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, November 9, in the Bone Student Center’s Prairie Room North. The event is free and open to the public.
The event will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day and the end of World War I. Illinois State Army ROTC cadets will participate in the ceremony by posting the colors, and providing the invocation and benediction. Illinois State President Larry Dietz will deliver remarks to recognize and honor veterans.
The featured speaker for the ceremony will be Jess Ray, university registrar and director of Veterans and Military Services at Illinois State.
Because of ongoing construction at the Bone Student Center, the usual outdoor portion of the ceremony will not be held.
Veterans may pick up commemorative yellow ribbons from 9-11 a.m. Friday at Veterans and Military Services, 112 Moulton Hall, and at the entrance to the Prairie Room prior to the ceremony.
This ceremony is sponsored by Veterans and Military Services, Illinois State University ROTC, Veterans at Illinois State, Omega Delta Sigma, and the Office of the University Registrar.
