Do you ever travel to a different campus and need WiFi? Maybe you collaborate with colleagues from other institutions who visit Illinois State University and need access quickly and securely. ISU has you covered. ISU is now an eduroam campus, a global roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.
Eduroam allows students, researchers, and staff from participating institutions to obtain fast and secure Internet connectivity. When visiting participating institutions, simply choose the eduroam network from your wireless device and enter your ISU email address and password. Likewise, a visitor to ISU from a participating eduroam campus can quickly and securely access eduroam with their institution’s credentials. Using a secure wireless network is recommended any time you will be accessing a site where you use a password and/or submit credit card or other personal or financial information.
What do I need to do?
Take a look at eduroam’s list of participating schools before you travel to see if the institution participates. A comprehensive list can be found online. If you host someone from a participating school, they simply select eduroam from their wireless device, enter their institution’s username and password, and they are quickly and securely connected to the ISU WiFi.
If an issue arises, the individual’s home institution provides tech support. ISU Technology Support recommends testing the connection on ISU’s campus prior to traveling, though it is not required. If support is required, contact the ISU Technology Support Center at (309) 438-HELP (4357) or supportcenter@IllinoisState.edu.
