Presentations
Bob Broad, ENG, presented “The Secret Cure for What Ails Large-Scale Writing Assessment: Classroom Teachers and Their Students,” the plenary address to the Second International Conference of the Latin-American Association of Writing Studies (ALES) in Santiago, Chile. He also presented a half-day workshop at the conference titled “Discovering, negotiating, and publicizing local writing assessment criteria.”
Susan Hildebrandt, LAN, presented “How to edTPA” at the annual meeting of the Illinois Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. She also co-presented a paper called “World Language edTPA Challenges and Opportunities in Illinois.” Hildebrandt also co-presented at the annual convention of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages with the talk “Spanish-speaking teacher candidate and stakeholder perceptions of edTPA” and “edTPA profiles: The view from three states.”
Susan Kalter, ENG, presented a bilingual reading of her translation of Justin Lhérisson’s La Famille des Pitite-Caille at the Forty-first American Literary Translators Association Conference: Performance, Props, and Platforms in Bloomington, Indiana, where she was also a panelist for “Working with Indigenous and Endangered Languages and their Translation.”
