Illinois State Athletics will host the 16th annual Taste of Redbirds from 4–6:30 p.m. Saturday, February 16, in Horton Field House prior to the men’s basketball game against Bradley at 7 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from local area restaurants and food vendors. Last year’s vendors included Alexander’s Steakhouse, Avanti’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny’s Doughnuts and Bakery, D. P. Dough, Famous Dave’s, Moe’s Southwest Grill, and Tony Roma’s, with possibly more vendors added this year.
Reggie’s Fun Zone will be in the field house with inflatables, face painting, and a climbing wall.
The event will also host a trunk show with local vendors selling licensed Illinois State merchandise. Trunk show vendors include Alamo II, Weibring Golf Club pro Shop, Jack Lewis Jewelers, and Fanatics (the official team store of Redbird Athletics).
Entrance to the Taste is free. Tickets for purchasing food, soda, and water are $1 each and will be sold before the event on the concourse of Horton Field House, and then inside the field house when the doors open at 4 p.m. Food vendors charge between one and four tickets for their food items.
Athletics, in partnership with Menold Construction, encourages Taste attendees to bring nonperishable food items to donate to the less fortunate in our community. Each family to donate nonperishables will receive one free food ticket to use at the Taste. Collection boxes will be staffed at the main entrances to Horton Field House.
Beer and wine will be sold for cash only in the beer garden. Beer and wine must remain inside the beer garden.
Although tickets to the men’s basketball game are not required to attend the Taste, we need you to help us pack the arena to cheer on the Redbirds and beat Bradley! Purchase tickets to the basketball game online at GoRedbirds.com, call the ISU Athletics Ticket Office at (309) 438-8000, or visit the ticket office located in Redbird Arena.
