Percussion Ensemble at Illinois State University.

The Illinois State University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of David Collier and Ben Stiers, will present its spring concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts.

The warmth and beauty of melodic percussion is explored as the ensemble performs works showcasing marimba and vibraphone. The beautiful interweaving of rhythmic melodic lines is found in both A Feeling of Coming Home by Victor LaBozzetta III and Bend by Peter Martin.

Venturing into a sonically different world is Bioluminescence by Illinois State faculty member Roger Zare. This world premiere work features graduate student Matt James on vibraphone combined with the ethereal sounds of multiple triangles.

The program will open with the flowing sounds of A Ceiling Full of Stars by Blake Tyson.

Matt James will also be featured on Home Trilogy by Michael Burritt and in his own work Above.

Tickets are available at the CPA Box Office.
