The Illinois State University Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts and School of Music invite you to the first Wind Symphony concert of the 2019–2020 season at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 22, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for Illinois State faculty/staff, and $6 for students (with student ID) and seniors.

This concert is the culminating event of the All-State Band Day for high school musicians.

The concert will open with Jaromir Weinberger’s “Polka and Fugue” from the opera Schwanda the Bagpiper and Frank Ticheli’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Ensemble featuring Davis Hale, winner of the 2019 Illinois State University Band Concerto Competition. Davis is a second-year graduate student in saxophone performance from the studio of Paul Nolen.

Following intermission, the second half of the concert will feature Leonard Bernstein’s On the Town: Three Dance Episodes and John Philip Sousa’s Hands Across the Sea.

The Wind Symphony is the University’s premier wind band and features the finest wind and percussion musicians on campus.
