Kevin Devine
Associate Professor Kevin Devine was awarded the Oppenheimer Award at the American Society for Engineering Education, Engineering Design Graphics Division 74th Midyear Conference in Virginia on November 17-19, 2019, in Norfolk, Virginia.
The Oppenheimer Award was established by Frank Oppenheimer to encourage the highest level of professionalism in oral presentations at the annual Engineering Design Graphics Division Midyear Meeting. Devine presented the research paper “Can Virtual Reality Enhance User Performance by Reducing an Individual’s Cognitive Workload?” Yi-hsiang Isaac Chang, professor and Gunnar Klitzing, a dual major in engineering technology and financial accounting, worked on the research study and co-authored the paper with Devine.
The Engineering Design Graphics Division exists to coordinate and promote interests and activities that pertain to engineering graphics, design, and education. The division serves its members by providing leadership and guidance for those engaged in the teaching and application of graphics in engineering, design, and technology; investigating the evolution and impact of computer graphics on engineering design graphics and informing its membership of current and future trends; promoting and developing ideas and providing opportunities for professional dialogue among the membership; and maintaining liaison with industry, government, and other professional societies.
