Provost Jan Murphy announced J. Cooper Cutting will be joining the Office of the Provost. Cutting has been named assistant vice president for academic planning, effective January 6.
In his new role, Cutting will serve as the provost’s representative on the Academic Planning Committee, which is responsible for the oversight of the program review process.
“I am confident the addition of Dr. Cutting will have a positive impact on Academic Affairs at Illinois State University,” said Murphy. “I welcome his leadership and input as we work toward our Division goals.”
Cutting will also support academic units in exploring new opportunities and programs, coordinate compliance with National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, and will provide support for university compliance with state and federal statutes related to academic programs. He will support university-level aspects of the faculty appointment, salary, tenure, and promotion system.
An associate professor and associate chair in the Department of Psychology, he joined Illinois State University in 1998. He received graduate degrees in cognitive psychology from the University of Illinois.
