Honors
Tammie Keney, Student Access, was appointed to the statewide Disability Services Advisory Committee. One of only 12 people named to the committee throughout Illinois, her work will include evaluating policies and practices in higher education institutions for those with disabilities.
Chris Merrill, TEC, was named the 2020 ACTE Teacher Educator of the Year by the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). The award recognizes teacher educators who have demonstrated innovation in teacher education, leadership in improving career and technical education (CTE), and commitment to preparing teachers to deliver high-quality CTE programs.
Performances
Tim Fredstrom, MUS, sang with Lumière, a Peoria-based chamber choir during their fall concert “Sound of Light” and conducted the Cantus Novus Chorale during their fall concert.
Bill Koehler, MUS, and Manpreet Bedi, performing as the Vandana Duo, gave a concert of original music and improvisations at the Contemporary Arts Center of Peoria.
Presentations
Michael Webb, CHE, co-presented the poster “Synthesis and Characterization of Ruthenium-Based Alzheimer’s Disease Therapeutics” along with undergraduate students Brendan Wall and Mark Will at the East Central Illinois ACS Undergraduate Research Conference in Urbana, Illinois.
Michael Dicker, MUS, presented a masterclass in bassoon reed making at the Accademia Musicale Sherazade in Rome, Italy, in November 2019.
Ali Riaz, POL, discussed his new book Voting in a Hybrid Regime: Explaining the 2018 Bangladeshi Election at a book event organized by the South Asia Institute of the Heidelberg University, Germany.
