The following measures are in place for faculty, staff, and students who continue to have a need to access facilities and to make every effort to ensure a healthy and safe environment. All employees should be working remotely unless they have been identified as onsite essential. A list of onsite essential staff and building spaces used will be shared with the Illinois State University Police Department by supervisors on a regular basis per Human Resources.
Building Service Workers and other staff are diligently working to keep spaces clean, but they cannot do so without your help. In addition, we must maintain the security of our facilities. Therefore, the following access procedures are in place until further notice.
Essential Employee Building Access Procedures:
Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.
Essential employees who have an assigned building key or card access:
- Notify your supervisor of intent to enter the building during the restricted access period and share the list of rooms/spaces used to ensure proper cleaning can take place.
- Make sure the building and all spaces used are re-secured after keying in.
- Essential employees who do NOT have an assigned building key or card access:
- Contact your on-site supervisor to allow entry into the building.
- If an on-site supervisor is not present to allow entry, contact the University Police non-emergency number at (309) 438-8631.
- Must present a valid Faculty-Staff ID Card.
- UPD or other staff will only open exterior doors, not specific rooms or spaces.

The above procedures then apply.

- With supervisor approval, faculty-staff members may allow essential vendors, students, or other members of the public into the facility for essential business purposes.

Residential housing is available to students who have been approved to remain on campus due to extenuating circumstances. If during this time, you have concerns about working alone in a facility, you are encouraged to download the Safe Redbirds App and use the Work Alone feature. Redbird Safe Walks continue to be available as needed. If you have any further questions about facility access, please email isupolice@ilstu.edu.
