The coronavirus (COVID-19) has forced many future Redbirds to revise their college search process. Illinois State’s Office of Admissions continues to be a resource for prospective students and their families, upholding the University’s core value of individualized attention while helping the next generation of Redbirds find their fit.
Virtual Visits
Admissions is temporarily replacing in-person visits with Virtual Visits—daily, online sessions with admission counselors and current Illinois State students answering questions while showcasing the University. These are ideal for high school students, admitted freshmen, and transfers. Counselors are working one-on-one with students and families through emails and Zoom phone appointments. An updated Google Maps-style virtual tour of the Quad and beyond is also available. These features can be found at IllinoisState.edu/Virtual.
Staying flexible
The deadline for admitted freshmen to submit their enrollment deposit for the fall 2020 semester has been changed from May 1 to June 1. The deadline for scholarship eligibility for the merit-based Redbird Academic Scholarship and the Legacy Scholarship has also been extended. More information is available at IllinoisState.edu/Admissions/Scholarships. In addition, Preview orientation has transitioned to online sessions, and refunds on housing contracts are available until June 1.
