Facilities Management and Environmental Health and Safety staff members, along with Normal Fire Department personnel, will be testing fire pumps and building standpipes across the Illinois State University campus during the remainder of May and during June.
Fire pump testing will begin on Tuesday, May 26, and run through Friday, May 29. Standpipe testing with the Town of Normal Fire Department will be conducted from June 22 through June 29. Temporary lane and street closures to accommodate fire department vehicles near campus buildings will be necessary during the testing.
The process of testing pumps and standpipes may cause periodic discoloration of the water in some campus buildings. The discoloration is harmless and can be cleared by letting the water run for a short time.
